French Vosges & Black Forest

Tour Overview

An ideal tour for a short trip away on the bike. This tour is all about the ride as we get to ride some fantastic roads and amongst others two of our favourites, The Route Des Cretes and the German B500. Our route will take us from Calais to our first stop over in the La Foret national park before making our way to the heart of the Vosges Region in France to the medieval village of Riquewihr.

Having spent some time in the Vosges region, we shall make our way across the border to Germany entering the Southern part of the Black Forest where our next hotel awaits us on the banks of Lake Titisee. This location is very popular with tourists as it is a place of natural  beauty and also provides us with a great location to explore the Black Forest.

Tour Format:

Day One;
Using Dover as our departure point, we shall take an early morning ferry to Calais before heading to our first night's stopover. A nice hotel set in natural rural surroundings will provide you with a comfortable short stay. Our meal is provided this evening giving us the opportunity to get together over a drink or two.

Day Two:
Breakfast out of the way and refreshed from the previous days ride, today we head straight to our first base set in the heart of the Vosges region which separate the French and German borders.  We shall cross the plains of france mainly using faster roads before we start the shallow climb into the French Hills arriving early afternoon giving you plenty of opportunity to freshen up and explore the medieval town of Riquwihr where your evening is your own.

Day Three;
Free Day: An opportunity to really enjoy your bike and the surrounding area as our planned ride will take us over the Routes Des Cretes from Ste Marie aux mines to Cernay before heading to the picturesque Village of Gerardmer for a leisurely lunch. More fun ahead as we travel through Vosges on some excellent roads before returning back to our hotel.

Day Four:
As we leave this beautiful part of the Vosges and having already ridden some great roads, today we get to do it again as we travel south before making our way across the Rhine and the German border into the Southern part of the Black Forest. A nice leisurely route today with no more than 150 miles approx, riding some fantastic roads in both the Vosges and Black Forest. Plenty of rests breaks and photo opportunities shall see us arrive at our next location around mid afternoon. Set on the banks of Lake Titisee and an outdoor pool to boot, hopefully the weather will be on our sideto soak the aches away. A great location to enjoy the Black Forest and perfect for us as it hides some fantastic roads. Take the evening to explore the town and try some of the local delicacies.

Day Five:
Free Day: Another great day ahead of us our planned ride today takes us north through the Black Forest riding amongst others the Infamous B500, almost made for bikers you will not help but smile as each curve and bend approaches with tree lined roads, open pastures, stunning scenery todays ride will not disappoint. We will be out all day and cover approx 180 miles today as we make our way to the spa town of Baden Baden before returning back to base.  Again plenty of rest breaks and lunch giving you plenty of opportunity to capture this amazing part of Germany on film.

Day Six:
As we leave Titisee with the Black Forest in our mirrors, hopefully you will have fell in love with it and consider returning for a longer visit. Time now to make our way back to our last hotel which we shall use before heading back to Calais to catch the ferry. However we do get time to ride some more of the forest before crossing the Rhine back into France. Our evening meal will be provided tonight giving us the opportunity to spend our last night together and share your favourite moments.

Day Seven:
Our holiday nears its end, as we leave for Calais to catch a lunchtime ferry home. Hopefully you will have enjoyed our time together and have captured plenty of pictures to share with your family and friends back home. Our trip shall end in Dover where you can say your goodbyes to new found friends before making your way homeward bound.
